I'm pretty sure the world went crazy over the past few weeks ....or maybe it was me or maybe both....ANyway I haven't really had time to stop and think so I haven't blogged anyone or anythuinng for quite some time. I can't type that great in the best of conditions so don't criticize my atrocious spelling erors i don't plan to run spell check to keep it mo real fo you...
So should I start w the story of how I tried to bluff my way into the American Idol BS...or just move on to more recent matters. I thought of writing up the entire episode under the heading of "American Idol on a Fake ID"...but i think the title says it all...so you gotta be like 29 or less to get to have your soul plasticised in one easy contest...thus I am legally(?) excluded from competition...awaken the old high school skills a little talk ...a mechanical pencil a xerox a birth certificate...you get the picture...
Yes ...I got in ...but that's really where the horror begins...imagine thousands of wanna be the next superstar...most of whom have never sung in a subway station all belting it out all at one time all over the citizens auditorium. I will say 2 things about the experience...1.I have never seen so inspiring a site (especially in the middle of a war!) as thousands of young enthusiastic people all eager to sing and be heard! Such a simple thing really BUT in a society that seems determined to shut down and slam creative efforts and stifle the individual who aspires to sing with needlessly cruel criticizm...i found the sight profound. 2. I found it exteremly unnerving to hear so many voices in so many various keys all chanting out in different directions and different tempos annd keys. ...Applicants were told to arrive at 7AM...I waited until promptly at 11:30 to discover(not suprisingly) that the applicants had been forced to stand out in the parking lot in un-moving lines for hrs and hrs while camerapeople told they to act excited and yell and stuff..oh to have missed it...anyway I hung out for enough hrs to get very bored (approx 3)..went and got my can amp out and played outside by the news vans for a while to pass the time...finally realizing my turn would be up around midnight (if ever) and also feeling a bit guilty(because i would have been the contestant to moon the camera on day 2 ...on such regard to i have for music critics) Especially given... it was something to watch so many aspiring kids walk out crushed and in tears as their dream had crashed in a cruel hale of criticizm. Anyway I got this nice picture for you...
So my biggest news lately has been SEATTLE....did i mention i played the Space Needle...now I did! Yeah so I played the space needle! and the Seattle Sheraton and a hole in the wall bar all in the same week...and to end it I got a gig at LOVE Park! SO it was to be...Monday gig - 1 hour jazz set at the Sheraton, Tuesday Gig at THE SPACE NEEDLE, Wednesday fly home to PHILLY...Thursday play LOVE PARK for the 3rd and last time this season...it didn't exactly go as planned and i think the best way for you'all to get the idea of what happened is to have you see the documentary video ...which is in progress!!!! Not long to wait now and we'll have it You-Tubed and ready to go. ONE LAST THING...Bryn Mawr had an vermin invasion and the pied piper came to town so to speak and if u know u know and that's all i have to say about that.
