WHA HAPPEND

I'm pretty sure the world went crazy over the past few weeks ....or maybe it was me or maybe both....ANyway I haven't really had time to stop and think so I haven't blogged anyone or anythuinng for quite some time. I can't type that great in the best of conditions so don't criticize my atrocious spelling erors i don't plan to run spell check to keep it mo real fo you...

So should I start w the story of how I tried to bluff my way into the American Idol BS...or just move on to more recent matters. I thought of writing up the entire episode under the heading of "American Idol on a Fake ID"...but i think the title says it all...so you gotta be like 29 or less to get to have your soul plasticised in one easy contest...thus I am legally(?) excluded from competition...awaken the old high school skills a little talk ...a mechanical pencil a xerox a birth certificate...you get the picture...

Yes ...I got in ...but that's really where the horror begins...imagine thousands of wanna be the next superstar...most of whom have never sung in a subway station all belting it out all at one time all over the citizens auditorium. I will say 2 things about the experience...1.I have never seen so inspiring a site (especially in the middle of a war!) as thousands of young enthusiastic people all eager to sing and be heard! Such a simple thing really BUT in a society that seems determined to shut down and slam creative efforts and stifle the individual who aspires to sing with needlessly cruel criticizm...i found the sight profound. 2. I found it exteremly unnerving to hear so many voices in so many various keys all chanting out in different directions and different tempos annd keys. ...Applicants were told to arrive at 7AM...I waited until promptly at 11:30 to discover(not suprisingly) that the applicants had been forced to stand out in the parking lot in un-moving lines for hrs and hrs while camerapeople told they to act excited and yell and stuff..oh to have missed it...anyway I hung out for enough hrs to get very bored (approx 3)..went and got my can amp out and played outside by the news vans for a while to pass the time...finally realizing my turn would be up around midnight (if ever) and also feeling a bit guilty(because i would have been the contestant to moon the camera on day 2 ...on such regard to i have for music critics) Especially given... it was something to watch so many aspiring kids walk out crushed and in tears as their dream had crashed in a cruel hale of criticizm. Anyway I got this nice picture for you...

So my biggest news lately has been SEATTLE....did i mention i played the Space Needle...now I did! Yeah so I played the space needle! and the Seattle Sheraton and a hole in the wall bar all in the same week...and to end it I got a gig at LOVE Park! SO it was to be...Monday gig - 1 hour jazz set at the Sheraton, Tuesday Gig at THE SPACE NEEDLE, Wednesday fly home to PHILLY...Thursday play LOVE PARK for the 3rd and last time this season...it didn't exactly go as planned and i think the best way for you'all to get the idea of what happened is to have you see the documentary video ...which is in progress!!!! Not long to wait now and we'll have it You-Tubed and ready to go. ONE LAST THING...Bryn Mawr had an vermin invasion and the pied piper came to town so to speak and if u know u know and that's all i have to say about that.

Playing in Love again

Thanks to all my friends who gave positive approval back to

Love Park after my first performance. It was thanks to you

all that I got to come back and play again today(7/27/07).

I had a blast once again!

Can you believe the choir that was sheduled balked due to

concerns it might rain? The irony...and I was sweltering in the sun

for 2 1/2 hours...

Thanks to the Love Park Staff...you guys make it a fun place to jam in!

LOVE Park is THE COOLEST Park in the CITY...hands down...

Thanks to Itzik for setting up and running the sound(also thanks for the present).

Thanks to Tyrone for the stick of gum (I think it was juicyfruit) it was the BEST stick

o gum I had all year...hands down. Thanks for being my friend!

Shirley, thanks for the advice and the song requests; I promise to work,"You light up

my senses"(which I think is actually called "Annie's Song") into the mix

next time...if there is a next time.

AGAIN, thanks to everyone who gave positive feedback to Jim, Regina and the

rest of the staff at LOVE PARK. Let the guys know if you want to hear more BILK

and maybe we can make it happen.

PEACE,

BILK

..

PS- ALSO please don't forget about the upcomming gig at

Burlap and Bean Coffee

August 11th at 8 PM with Tyler and Jenny Opening Act at 7PM (come early they're quite good!)

Newtown Square PA (Birthplace of Speedmonkey) !

This is as close to a homecomming as it gets. I NEED a few friends to show up for this one

or I won't be getting invited back.....so if you've always wanted to go to a BILK show...and

are putting it off...please pull out this stops on this one and come by for a while. The B+B folks

are very cool and you can even BYOB! Did I mention its a FREE show (no cover)...how cool is that!

Love Park

...so I played this park downtown today...it's called Love Park and it's slam in the middle of downtown. It got really fameous when skateboarders discovered that the stonework made excellent skate ramps...they subsequently got banned.

Anyway they have a summer concert lunch series...it's usually a band for 2 hrs. Anyway they called me last week...a band had cancelled and they asked me to fill in. yeah! So I check w my band buddies(they can't go on account of the day jobs...) so I go solo...

What a time...

Philly people are cool....I still can't believe you wanted "Impossible Is Not A Fact" twice in a row or that the "Paris Hilton" song would be that crazy.

Thanks to all the friends who made today fun. Thanks to my friends from previous gigs who decided to come out and support my insanity. You guys make it all worth doing.

attacking the Fortress of the Arts and BILK news

Dear Mom,

Life is good...week 4! and so far they still haven't voted me off the island, even when I ran around naked and threw poo at the other monkeys...life continues to be interesting on Bilk Island.

tried to call Amir yesterday...will try again today.
I got at least one local record store willing to sell the CD and I got 3
restaurants looking interested in gigs so far...one restaurant playing my CD all
day for 3 days and put it on their website online...so far no def plans for
gigs..

most def/raw and variable crowd at the Fortress of The Arts 2/17/07 GRAND GALA OPENING thing the other day. And it had the feel
of some very ritsy people mixing with some people who might have slid in of the
street which happens to be a rough part of town. It was memorable... The Art
was pretty cool.
The sound system was crap and the room was an acoustical cavern. No
reverb...limitless...
I couldn't tell you what anyone sang about since there were no mids coming out
of the system.
The only heat was portable gas htrs and they were running out of gas and the place was so chilly
we kept gloves on.
I was next to go and this 6 pc band ahead of me kept blowin the fuse...and then
they'd flip the fuse and these guys would play for a minute and a half and then
the fuse would blow again...
so after the 3rd time I was like...hey can I just go on an do my set acoustic
style while we get this problem worked out?

SO they're like sure...so I grab my gtr and go stand out in the middle of the
room and just bang it out at the top of my lungs with an acoustic and no
mic...over a raging party of noise...
ddid I mention I wore my tux and dyed my hair blue.
F'k life is short.
got to hav fun.

imminent CD release FROM MONKEY WITH LOVE

SO I'm going nuts...trying not to, but...the CD should have been done last week...they tell me tomorrow. I'm trying to be cool....it's just a thing..no...but the TV show aired on Ch2..TE Music Show....all about the creation of the CD...recoding of speed monkey and the soundtrack of "Facing Tomorrow" and we have a premiere event to celebrate the TV show and I miss having the CD's done at the same time by 2 f-in days. I'm trying to be cool...really what can you do...I just can't wait to get the CDs and start hauling them around the world...the world needs some speed monkey!

Oh...another note..I have almost aquired the legal rights to BILK (tm). All I have to do is show it in use another time and it's mine all mine...Just think any time someone in America sells you a pile of BILK (tm) it had better be me or someone has some explaining to do.

gtrs movies and Will Ferrill

SO I wen't to the movies Thursday nt and see Will Ferrill's new flick, "Stranger Than Fiction" and incidentally it's the best movie I've seen in years; but there's this one scene where Will's character decides he needs to find some meaning in his life so he goes to buy a guitar...and he's going through the store and checking all the gtrs out and saying this gtr says I'm flashy and this one says I don't really know how to play ...and then he sees the right one and it's a Fender Strat (of course) and its a '57 re-issue sea-foam-green with a maple neck...and he says this one says, "I rock" and so I go...shit...and bust out laughing out loud (which gets me alot of strange looks in the theatre)cause I bought the same damn gtr about 5 months ago. I don't mean to say I just walked in a store and said thats a cool one I'll take it. No I researched gtrs for moonths and decided on the exact model and color I HAD to have...then I went online and found my baby in CALIFORNIA. I called and they shipped it by ground and I was on the net every day checking the UPS tracking number so I could follow it's transcontinental progress move by move. I am a little jealous that my guitar has toured the country before I have...but then it WAS born into a noble family. So what I'm saying is I have the exact same guiar that Will gives thums up to as the coolest guitar...I have to agree. No I will have to write "I rock" on my guitar.

So I'm out of this movie ...and it's great...and I can't stand it anymore...I've been imposing self exile on myslef until I complete my new album I'm not going to play live...but I can't take it so I go play a peace rally event on Penn campus the next day. I mean life is short...make the most of it...

Rage on,

Bilk
